Welcome To Vinod lab

We are located at the Centre for Computational Natural Sciences and Bioinformatics, IIIT Hyderabad. We are an interdisciplinary team exploring the structure and dynamics of complex biological network by using methods from systems biology, dynamical systems theory and network theory. We integrate diverse data sets and work closely with experimental groups to generate systems-level understanding and novel hypothesis regarding complex cellular processes, human diseases and mode of action of drugs.

A key challenge in modern biology is to understand how cellular behaviour is controlled by an integrated network (genetic, signalling, metabolic and microRNA). This requires construction/inference of network from high throughput data and translating them into computational/mathematical models to study the dynamic state of the cell. Our focus area is how cell fate decisions such cell growth, division, differentiation, movement and cell death are controlled/perturbed at the network level in normal (healthy) and diseased states. Previously, we have developed models of integrative signalling networks of growth control in yeast cells (cAMP-PKA, MAPK and TOR pathways) and in mammalian cells (Insulin and PI3K-mTOR pathways), and of cell cycle regulation in mitosis and meiosis.
