Perception and Cognition Lab

Priyanka Srivastava is a PI of Perception and Cognition Lab. She is a senior research Scientist at Cognitive Science Lab, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, India. She has received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from Centre of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences, university of Allahabad. She did her post doctorate at Cognitive and Developmental Psychology Lab from Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Her research focuses on creative thinking; spatial representation and perception; and related cognitive (such as working memory, attention, and cognitive load) and non-cognitive (such as stress and anxiety) issues. In her research, she employs audio-visual stimuli, paper-pencil tests, virtual environment and/or virtual reality. Her research involves cross-sectional and longitudinal assessment of survey, behavioral, psychophysical and physiological responses.

Research Scholar

Momin's broad research interest areas are attention and creativity. Currently, he is investigating creativity and mental representation. He is also interested in Human-Computer Interaction (wearable devices), Natural Language Processing, Image Processing, Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning, Spectral Analysis and its' application.

MS Students

Palash is a dual degree master's student at IIIT-H. Previously he has worked on "Distributed Maximal Sub-graph Mining". Currently he is involved in the Enhancing Vision project, more specifically looking developing a virtual reality (VR) interface covering 360-degree view. His work involves studying the effectiveness, immersion and individual differences against 360-degree VR spatial vision and development of spatial awareness in an unknown virtual environment.

Ambika is pursuing MS by research in Cognitive science lab. She is involved in the Enhancing Vision project. Using a task that involves ego centric direction estimation in a virtual environment, her work aims at evaluating the efficacy and efficiency of user interface display design in construction of 360° spatial understanding. She is also interested in understanding the effect of individual differences e.g. gaming experience and gender and on spatial awareness.

Anirudh Ravipati is a dual degree student with interests in virtual reality and application development. Currently he is involved in the Enhancing Vision project. His research work involves desktop 360-degree vision in which various styles of overtaxed are tested by the metrics of direction judgment and spatial awareness.

Pulkit Singhal is pursuing his MS by Research in Cognitive Science Lab. He is involved in the Sight Without Light project. His research aims to address spatial representation of Pitch and more specifically investigate it in visually impaired population.

Sharique is a dual degree student at IIIT-H. Previously, he has worked on "Autonomous vehicle on India specific roads". In cognitive science lab, his work involves studying spatial perception in virtual environments.

Raghav is pursuing his MS by research at Cognitive Science Lab. Previously, he has worked on projects related to semantic web and domain-specific languages at Software Engineering Research Center. Currently, he is studying spatial perception in 360-degree virtual environments.

Honours Student

Honours Student at IIIT-H working on the Cognitive Creativity Project.

Research Associate

Akshita is currently working in Cognitive Science Lab, IIIT-Hyderabad as a Research Associate on VR-Feel Project. As part of this project, she is looking into effects of emotional VR stimuli in second person perspective scenario. She has done her MS by Research from CSL, IIIT-Hyderabad and her masters project looked into interaction of emotional cues presented through different modalities - visual, audio and haptic. Her research interests lie in the field of affective computing, computational neuroscience and VR research.

Research Assistant

Shruti Singh is Research Assistant in Cognitive Science Lab. She has aquired M.Tech in Computer Science from Banasthali University, Rajasthan. Currently she is involved in the Enhancing Vision project. She has developed VR Interface with the help of Unity 3d.
